“This original illustration is of Arohaki, a male Kārearea, based at Wingspan in Rotorua (2022). I took the reference photograph during the flight of the falcon display whereby the dexterity and speed of these incredible birds is on full display. These impressive birds can fly at speeds exceeding 100kms/hr and seeing them in action was a special experience. I hope that I have managed to capture Arohakis power and grace reflecting how important these birds of prey are to our history and future going forwards.”
10% of the profits from the sale of this illustration will go back to the conservation efforts of the Wingspan charity.
