Gloster Canaries on Manuka

Commissioned illustration created in 2022 with a black ink pen by Maria Elizabeth.

Gloster canaries originate from Gloucestershire in England. These birds are not themselves native to New Zealand being found almost exclusively within breeding and show communities.

“In 2022 a Wellington breeder commissioned this artwork of two Gloster canaries with the aim of capturing their unique charm, albeit with a distinctly New Zealand flavour. With the permission of N.J. Barrett and C. Blackwell, photographs were selected from their handbook “The Gloster Fancy Canary – A guide to keeping, breeding and exhibiting”. These photos were used as reference for the life size illustrations which have been depicted upon a branch of New Zealand native flowering Manuka."

All prints are reproduced on Archival paper, matched as close as possible to the original drawing, giving the look of original art without the price tag.
This is a limited edition print and as such there are only a total of 30 reproductions available in the below size:
A3 $110 + postage

Each print is hand signed and numbered by Maria.

All prints are unframed, framed photos are an indication of how you could display the illustration.
